Ok, I finally posted my finished Monique de Noir figure to my Main Gallery. I actually updated the gallery page almost a week ago, but life has been busy, and I have not had time until today to post an update. I have also added Monique to my Sales Page, for those that are interested.

Speaking of sales, I have updated my Sales Page to include a number of my display figures. I have not yet posted a handful of my best minis, but rest assured that even those will eventually appear for sale. I am also working on a number of gaming quality D&D and 40K figures that I will be posting for sale.

I have been receiving a number of requests to explain the Gately Goop method of speed painting that I have been playing with lately. I will be attempting to write a complete description and tutorial as soon as possible, so keep an eye here...

You may have also noticed that I finally updated my Hot Links on the right side. One of my additions is Mayne's Widowmaker unit that I strongly suggest you check out. Not only is the finished result amazing, but he took the time to write up one of the best Work In Progress tutorials I have seen. In fact, his entire site kicks ass!

And for those of you playing Dawn of War, I am eagerly awaiting the release of Relic's modding tools. At the very least, I plan on making a number of maps for the game, if not try to throw in an help with one of the various modding projects going on. Since video game design is what I do for a living, I hope to bring a more polished effort to fan created content...

October 19, 2004

The wedding has come and gone and I am now a happily married man! Even luckier is that my wife has also been painting miniatures for the last year, so she doesn't think my fascination with little toy soldiers all that odd! ;)

I have updated my Works In Progress page with a write-up on Monique DeNoir from Reaper. The figure is actually almost complete (beyond what is shown in the write-up). All I need to do is add a last little bit of detail to the base and photograph it, and it will be finished!

I have also been playing Dawn of War, the newest Warhammer 40K game. It is really well done. The folks at Relic should be proud! The did a fantastic job of really capturing the feel of the Warhammer 40K universe. The voice acting in particular is top notch!

That's all for now, but look for another update in the next few days. In addition to a finished Monique, I'll be adding some of my display miniatures to my sale page (but will not be auctioning them). Take care!

September 23, 2004

No, I am not dead! You'll forgive me if I have had little time for updates, as my wedding day swiftly approaches - just 9 days to go! I did recently sell some more figures on eBay, and so I have updated my Sales page to mark things as sold, and have listed a new figure for sale, my Imperial Bounty Hunter.

I have also finished converting my Archives to my new format (and also took new pictures of some of those old models). It should look nicer and be a bit easier to navigate now. Hopefully...

Anyway, that is all I have time for today!

August 9, 2004

Finally finished and photographed my Arminius model!

That's all for now...

August 7, 2004

Last weekend saw the best miniatures competition in the US this year - GW's Chicago Games Day! Jen Haley took home three golds, but Ben Bishop beat her out for the sword, his second this year! Of special note, newcomer James Kennard took home a bronze medal for his Warhammer 40K unit his first year out of the Youngbloods. At 15, I think he is the youngest Golden Demon winner! With luck, I may get to check out his gear in person tomorrow...

GW is about to release a new version of the Warhammer 40K game, and while I rarely play anymore, the new Space Marine figures they are getting ready to release with the new version are AMAZING! Lots of new plastic bits are going to be a godsend for those of us into figure conversions...

Not much going around here. I hope to have some completed new pieces to post in a couple of days, but nothing today. I did some back end work to the site in the gallery section, but noting that should be noticeable to visitors - just something to make organization easier for me. I did add a new Fantasy Figure Archive Gallery for those that want to view some of my older figure work (though it is the same stuff I have been recently auctioning off through eBay)...

Take care, y'all!

July 29, 2004

I just listed some of those old gaming minis up for auction on eBay. You can see them on my Sale Page, or just view my eBay listings directly.

Beyond that, I don't really have much to update. I have almost completed the Master Arminius that you can check out in my Work in Progress Gallery. I just need to clean up a couple of highlights and minor details, but he is basically done. Now I just need to base him. I am finally trying to finish up the last three members of my Storm Guardian squad for the Waryammer Painting Contest, but I don't have any in progress photos to post of them yet. The contest ends in less than a week, so I need to hurry...

I have seen photos on the web of some of the new Space Marine releases that will accompany the new Warhammer 40K edition, and I must say I am getting excited! I remember when GW first announced they would place more emphasis on plastic that I was... underwhelmed. But in the years that have passed, they have proven what a wise move that was. Their detail has continued to improve and the versatility for conversions is amazing. The new space marine command sprue looks to continue this now proud tradition!

That's all for now. Good luck to everyone going to Games Day Chicago!

July 18, 2004

Sorry for the long delay since the last update. A family emergency called me away to the outback of Oregon for a coupe of weeks...

Not too much of an update for the moment. I have finally done some more work on Master Arminius that you can check out in my Work in Progress Gallery.

I am also selling off some of my older gaming miniatures, most of the suitable for D&D, but some Warhammer minis are sneaking into there as well. I am also starting to paint some minis specifically for sale that I am using as test beds for trying new techniques, so more miniatures will appear in the sale section as time goes on.

And don't forget that the deadline to enter the Waryammer Painting Contest is only two weeks away! Come on over and enter!

June 24, 2004

Well, not sure if anyone is noticing, but I have been keeping my promise to update this site regulary! Even when I am not updating this news part, I still have been adding new Hot Links! to the side bar almost every day! :)

Anyway, I have a real update today. The first pass of my long-delayed Miniature Photography Tutorial is done! You can check it out now. I want to add some illustrative images and some more advance information, but all the basics are there. Let me know what you think.

I have also majorly expanded my links section, so feel free to see what is new.

And last, I am currently trying some new painting techniques. Some of the results of this will be posted for sale by my here and on eBay. I will be clearing out some more of my older figures this way as well. Feel free to check out what I currently have on sale.

June 14, 2004

Rackham recently had an Open Day where some of their upcoming releases were on display.

Also, I keep seeing people on various forums ask about basing models. While there are a number of tutorials out there, the one I keep pointing people to is the wonderful Base Work 101 tutorial over at Dragon Forge Design!

And last, I am trying some new experiments in speed painting (anything to make me faster since I am so slow!), but also added another marine to my workbench. I decided that since everyone else was doing flames, I would give my own go at it, so this marine is wielding two flamers. He is still a long ways off from done, since I am still working on the conversion, but sometime...

June 9, 2004

Wow... It has been a while...

The good news is that I now have ftp access from work, so I can update my site during lunch hours and such, so updates should be more common. That, and I am painting a lot more these days, so I actually have something to update! I changed jobs and am getting married this year, so that may explain where I had vanished to... ;)

Anyway, more updates will be coming quickly now (I just am trying to get the changes done). In the mean time, I have finished updating my Works In Progress section. I am also almost done with my first display figure in nearly two years. It is basically painted, but I want to fix a few rough spots, and I am still finishing the scenic base. But if you want to see where he is at so far, you can check him out here.

Anyway, I recently attended KublaCon. The competition for the Single Fantasy Miniature category was intense! The top three were all amazing pieces. Laszlo Jakusovszky finally was selected as the winner. KublaCon is quickly establishing itself as the miniatures event on the West Coast. Electric Ocean is currently hosting a video of KublaCon put together by CJ Cummings. Pictures of the contest winners should be appearing soon there or over at Fantization. Stay tuned...

That's all for now, but I'll be back soon...

November 19, 2002

This is a pretty short update. Sorry for the infrequent updates, but work has been very busy. Rest assured, I am painting some new pieces. Currently I am doing practice runs of new painting techniques in preparation of starting my Golden Demon entries for the 2003 season. The practice figures will likely be entered in local painting contests before the Demons, since they are coming out quite well.

I have added a page to download some of the patches for the old SSI PC Warhammer 40K games. I actually have patches for most of the games SSI released before 2000, as well as some of the older Red Orb and Mindscape PC games, so if you are looking for one of these older patches, let me know. But if you need patches for Rites of War, Chaos Gate, or Final Liberation, then they are available for download right now!

In news around the figure painting scene, the hottest word right now is that Vallejo is offering a new line of paints based on the GW color range! While the main line was originally intended for military modelers, the new line is designed for fantasy/sf painters. All the paints have names that play on the equivalent GW names, and you can see a color chart here.

That's it for now. I'll try to get back here soon!

October 11, 2002

Wow! Talk about long delayed updates! Well, obviously a lot has been going on in miniatures, so I'll get to it...

I've added a write-up to the Gallery of my WIP Emperor's Champion. It is not painted yet, but was a massive conversion of the Juan Diaz limited edition model, and it's coming along well so far...

I recently finished a tutorial on Decal Application in the Workshop section, and I have revamped almost the entire gallery section and made it a little quicker to use, especially the Archived Images. I also added a lot of Archive Photos, and will be adding more in November.

Over the summer, I helped Sean Pattern (of Necromundicon fame) build a table for WizKids. WizKids used the table in their exhibition area at GenCon to promote the new MechWarrior: Dark Age game. The table came out very well, and is durable enough to handle a lot of convention traffic! Check it out!

Also over the summer, I was lucky enough to get my hands on an unreleased Space Marine figure sculpted by Jes Goodwin! And on that note, my unreleased Female Farseer figure was featured in an article on rare GW figures. You can read the article over at the 40K Cantina.

Elsewhere on the web, Matt of Prophet Miniatures has been sculpting some incredible conversions and selling them on eBay. You can see some of this amazing work for yourself over on Cool Mini or Not!

And last, but certainly not least, the Infamous Seer Brün has relauched his site, Ultinomicon. The site is focused on the Warhammer 40K game from GW and includes a forum area. I am the moderator of the modeling forum there, so feel free to come by and ask me any of your painting questions!

So, that's it for this month! On Monday I leave for two weeks in Japan and won't return until the Halloween. Look for more updates in mid-November, and enjoy all my latest updates until then...

June 20, 2002

Sorry it has been so long since my last update. Real life has been kinda busy.

I have added a write up of the figure I did for the 7th Visions in Color event. You can view Victoria Drakin in my main gallery or simply click HERE.

Speaking of the VIC, you simply MUST check out Derek K Schubert's amazing VIC entry! It is simply one of the most amazing figures I have ever seen. It shames my own meagre attempts with the same figure. I have held this figure in person, and the level of detail is beyond words.

In the rest of the game industry, there is a new miniature company starting up based on the artwork of Brom. Some of the sculptors include Sandra Garrity, Werner Klocke, and Steve Buddle. And the official studio figure painter is none other than Jennifer Haley. The game is Dark Age, you can see it all at the Official Dark Age website!

Also all of you terrain builders might want to check out a surprisingly large terrain building section on the GW site in support of the the Warhammer Skirmish rules. You can see it all HERE.

And last, a big congratulations to Sean Patten and his wife on the birth of their second child (Sean is the builder of the Thunderhawk Gunship seen in my Hot Links section).

May 30, 2002

Wow! What a week it has been! KublaCon has come and gone, but I got a lot of photos. In fact, I got to be the official photographer for the Miniature Painting Contest! That went well, and it looks like I'll start doing the photography for future local miniature-related events.

Anyway, you can check out all of the winning figures yourself on my KublaCon Painting Contest Coverage and also read the rest of my KublaCon Convention Coverage (including Warhammer 40K Rumors from Andy Chambers)! I took one Second Place and two Third Place finishes in the Painting Contest. All of the details are in my Event Coverage Section.

I also finished a new figure for the 7th Visions in Color Gallery. I haven't had a chance to do a write up for this figure here, but in addition to checking it out in the official VIC Gallery, you can see it up on Cool Mini as well.

Anyway, I have some more surprises in store, but that is all I have time for this week. And in case you have missed it, I have been slowly selling off some of my older figures on eBay. I just sold three more this week, and I will put a few more up next week.

See ya again soon!

May 21, 2002

I just added an Introduction to Green Stuff Tutorial to my Workshop, and completely over-hauled my Modeling Tools Page!

KublaCon is right around the corner, I am rushing to get some entries ready for the painting contest. Wish me luck! As soon as I get back, I will update my gallery with the figures I have painted for the contest and will also update my Event Coverage section with photos from the Con.

And while my primary interest is in painting figures, I suggest that all Warhammer 40K players go out and buy the new Necron Codex! It is without a doubt, the finest codex ever released by Games Workshop. And I say this as someone that has played 40K since the Rogue Trader days.

See y'all again next week!

May 8, 2002

If anyone is reading this is in the San Francisco Bay Area, I will be at KublaCon game convention over Memorial Day weekend. I will be entering the painting contest there, and cruising around taking pictures of miniatures at the Con.

May 2, 2002

This is a really short update! I added some additional photos to my featured model galleries and some additional project gallery photos. I also added a link to a much larger image to the Female Farseer.

But the BIG news: My Female Farseer is now displayed on Portent's Rumor Images page! It doesn't list my site or name, but it is still cool. 8-)

Also check out a REALLY GOOD guide to brushes written by Bobby Wong over on CMoN. Check it out!

April 23, 2002

Well, I am going to start selling off some of my older figures that I no longer use. These aren't going out at bargain basement prices, but may be of some interest to some of you. You can get to them using the "Figure Sales" button on the left side of this screen or you can just click HERE.

Someone on mini-painter posted a link to a really cool figure painting page from Japan. The figures are all painted in stunningly bright colors, and while not super-realistic, it is a very refreshing change of style and is well worth checking out. Unfortunately the site is in Japanese (and uses frames), so navigation is a bit tricky. To get there, follow these steps:

  1. Go to:
  2. Click on "Metal Miniature" on the left side of the screen.
  3. Scroll down to the bottom of the main window and click on "Miniature Gallery"

I have also added Andrew Poutiatine's amazing NMM Confrontation figure to my Events coverage, and while it is linked in the Hot Links! bar, I thought it was cool enough to mention again here. Check it out!

Oh, and I added a link on my Links page to a pretty cool German figure painting site. You can see it at

April 15, 2002

I finally have learned to take better photos with an actual camera instead of scanning them. To celebrate, the first few have been uploaded to Cool Mini or Not, and you can go vote for them at My Gallery There.

Anyway, I have photographed a bunch of stuff, and will be posting a lot of new figures in the next couple of days. I will also start selling some of my older figures, so check back here soon!

I would do more today, but I have to rush off and do a last minute tax filing...

April 8, 2002

Well, I have just finished a massive overhaul of my site design. From now on, whenever I see anything really cool that is figure painting or Warhammer 40K related, this is where I'll talk about it. For starters, be sure to check out my new Events Coverage section and Guestbook. Both can be found normally in the menu on the left. Of course, the most important change in the new format is the elimination of Frames from my web design, which makes it much easier to bookmark pages. I haven't finished updating my Workshop section, but that should be done soon.

I have started spending more and more time over on the forums at EldarOnlilne. They have recently expanded the modeling forums and teamed up with Doctor Faust's Painting Clinic and Also, they just posted a really cool painting tutorial on creating wave effects on Eldar Vehicles (though the technique can be easily used in other applications). Check it out!

OH! And my Howling Banshee Exarch figure recently won the Best Single Miniature Category at the 1st Annual Painting Contest.

  • 04.04.02 - Well, I am finally overhauling the site. I just finished making the new title page, and many of the support pages. I am trying to get rid of frames to make direct linking to the contents of my site easier for both me and my visitors. Also, my goal is to make this more of a professional, user-friendly, figure resource on the web instead of it being just my little Eldar stomping ground.
  • 20.10.01 - I have just upgraded to my new domain name and new hosting service. In the progress of migrating everything over and updating the look and content. The figure gallery has been completely re-designed with with some content removed and a couple of newer figures added. I think I have fixed all of the old email links. :-)
  • 05.05.00 - Lots of things. I put up some pre-view photos of upcoming Exarch figures I got from Mail Order. I added a step-by-step photo guide to building a bunker in the Workshop section. I added pictures of a Dark Eldar Incubi in the GW Gallery and an Eldar Farseer Conversion in the Eldar Gallery. I have added the first pass of my DIY Craftworld army list, Codex: Kurnous. I will be playtesting and adjusting the details this summer as well as expanding the fluff. Last, I changed jobs, so I updated the email contact information to a new address.
  • 21.01.00 - Rebuilt the Workshop section with new added photos. Will be trying to expand this section more soon. Also added a freshly painted Harlequin Shadow Seer to the Eldar Gallery. I also added a gallery of projects underway.
  • 07.01.00 - I just did a major orginizational change that is transparent to all of you but will make modifying this site easier to manage for me. More importantly, I added a Terrain Gallery and put a recently finished Wraithlord Conversion up in the Eldar Gallery. More changes coming soon.
  • 23.11.99 - Well, I finally got a permanent home on Portent, so now I can start upgrades and establishing links from other sites. I also added two new figures to the Imperial Gallery, an Assassin and a Bounty Hunter. Check them out.
  • 08.06.99 - The look of site has been completely overhauled. The Workshop section is now up, though it is still very bare-bones. It still needs all the graphics added to it, and I have so many more entries to add. I have all the mail links going now, so it should be easier for people to contact me.
  • 31.05.99 - The new gallery structure is done, and most of the pages have been converted. I am adding more pages and still need to finish converting some. The Large Fonts problem is fixed. Have also started changing the look of the place.
  • 28.05.99 - Am updating the gallery to utilize frames. This should make use of it much easier. Plus it will look better and fix my large fonts problem. I have also added in new artwork. This is in the New Gallery section, but be warned that it is still under some construction.
  • 23.04.99 - Added "browser" buttons to the gallery sections so that viewers no longer had to return to the gallery index between each model. Made the sphere buttons you now see. Added a new front page, a links section, disclaimers, and a short bio.
  • 21.04.99 - Added many additional photos for all models already on display, plus added many additional models. Fixed a couple of minor bugs, and cleaned up my organizational structure.
  • 18.04.99 - Background textures added, and some minor clean-up done.
  • 17.04.99 - Initial web page started, and by the evening was here on the web. Consisted only of a gallery of twelve miniatures.
